On 14 October 2022, the museum was visited by Piret Hartman, Estonia’s Minister of Culture, accompanied by ministry staff members Alo Lõoke and Pavel Prokopenko. The Minister was pleasantly surprised to discover that such a museum exists in Jõhvi and that the town’s football history spans over 100 years. Sergei Ivanov, head of Jõhvi FC Phoenix, gave a guided tour, showcasing the exhibits and sharing the stories behind how they came to the museum. As Piret Hartman noted, she hadn’t had a favourite football or futsal club before, but now she knows for certain that she’ll be supporting Phoenix And she promised to attend a match featuring our team.

At the end of the visit, the guests thanked the club for preserving football history and presented Sergei Ivanov with a commemorative gift. In return, we gave souvenirs from Jõhvi FC Phoenix and a copy of the book “100 Years – All Clear for Take-off. The History of Football in Jõhvi.”
Thank you to our guests from the Estonian Ministry of Culture — we are always happy to welcome you!
